Meet The Face Behind The Roving Accountant

I’m Kelly Burton, the proud owner of The Roving Accountant.

I look forward to sharing my story. I hope that you will enjoy getting to know me better.

After working at a couple of CPA firms, I found that most bookkeepers lacked the desire to solve problems for their clients. My close observations inspired me to maintain constant communication with clients while crunching the numbers.

Flying Solo

After spending over twenty years working as a staff accountant, CFO, and trusted resource for business owners, I decided to fly solo.

Since launching my enterprise eleven years ago, it’s evolved considerably. Initially, I serviced a couple of construction clients in Boulder, Colorado, using QuickBooks desktop. I had to work tirelessly round the clock to complete payroll, bill paying, and sales tax all by myself.

However, today, I have an incredible team of bookkeepers and a relationship manager who help me serve various industries. I get to serve clients remotely, efficiently, and accurately thanks to the latest technology, including QuickBooks Online and Zoom.

Reverse Engineer Results

I enjoy getting into the zone and reverse engineering successful outcomes. Starting with the end goal in mind, I create processes that make sense for small entrepreneurs as they get to do what they love while I handle the books.

As a result, it fills me with joy to witness the surprised look on clients’ faces when their enterprises grow exponentially. The most rewarding part is seeing small business owners taste success using the Profit First cash flow system I taught them.

When I’m not analyzing financial statements, I love watching movies. I spent four years managing a video store in the 80s and got hooked on Disney classics.

I have enjoyed sharing my story about the things that matter to me and how they influence how I do business.
